Thanks to RM's recommendation, El Preferido is an uber-popular local joint serving up local Porteña dishes. It's made up of both a restaurant and a bar area. For cheap good food, your best bet is the bar side with the green high tables and stools. For a change from beef, go for the seafood, pork, or chicken dishes. Though the mashed potatoes (they translated to smashed potatoes) seem plain, they're actually really tasty and creamy. yum! They also serve lots of salads, casseroles, picadas (antipasti) and large selection of desserts as well. We'll definitely be a regular here.
