The Pied de Cochon
Our decadent weekend in Montreal began with one of the richest meals I've had in my life... straight off the train into buzzing atmosphere of Au Pied Du Cochon. PDC's menu included highlights in seafood, foie gras, and naturally pork. Our night of indulgence began with pickled tongue, piglet roast, and a special head cheese salad (with asparagus). delicious, delicious, and delicious. My favourite of these starters was the special head cheese which was fried into a ball. The waiter then brought us an order of foie gras cromesquis (on the house!) which was a fried ball of liquid foie gras... very rich. The hearty portion of the meal followed with foie gras poutine, 2x pied de cochon (gigantic!), beef tartare, and PDC's melting pot which included bacon, sausage, boudin, and cheesy mash amongst other things. With a couple pints of Pied de Cochon beer to wash the meal down, we finished with espresso and a pudding chomeur. What a great way to start off the weekend. :) (photos via Flickr)The TartareFoie Gras CromesquisPickled Tongue
